The
house was originally used as a hydrotherapy hospital for the Victorians. They
would spend several weeks here "enjoying"the rigors of morning bathes
in the cold mountain streams, treks in the rain through the fells and fields
and various treatments within the hospital.
You now receive a far more comfortable
welcome, a fully central heated house with log fires during the winter in the
large lounge/dining room where our guests can relax after long walks on the fells.
A large drying room is also available to dry those wet clothes which is often
a hazard of our climate.
Private car parking within the grounds mean that
you can lock your keys in your room and not move it again until you leave the
Lake District, enjoy your holiday without fear of vandalism or finding a place
to park.
Within walking distance are several hostelries and restaurants to
suit all tastes, some are extremely popular during the high season and at weekends
and it is advisable
to make reservations.
We have telephone numbers and
also sample menus from some of the restaurants.
