The Prophet Micah gave the Jews a briefing for life, when he said:

"The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands. See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern and humbly obey your God"

For the Christian life is a journey of learning and growing. Jesus teaches about justice and mercy of how we all have a duty to work for justice for all. St Paul tells us in Philippians that we should never "stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise".

The events outside St Pauls cathedral in London, have shown how our world is divided between rich and poor, the 'haves' and 'have not's'. Now we should not say that the banks are the reason for everything that is wrong with our world. It's better to see them as part of the issue, the issue of course being us humans. We are self centred and it's this 'self-centredness' that Christian call "sin". Sin does destroy our world and us, you can't beat sin on your own, and it is part of each and every one of us. But when God sent his son into our world he gave us a way out. Jesus said "if you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others" if our leaders; be they in government, the unions, business or schools; could have that mindset and do what St Pauls tells the Philippians "care about others as much as you care about yourselves" what a world we would have!
